Anti-wrinkle treatments using Botulinum Toxin (also known as Botox).
Professional Botox Treatments.
Natural ageing of the face leads to some tell-tale signs. One of the most obvious is the development of wrinkles in several “key areas”, namely the forehead, in between the eyes, and around the eye’s corners (crows feet). Wrinkling of the skin occurs due to facial muscles “bunching up” the top layer of the skin, which becomes more evident as skin loses its elasticity with age.
Look and Feel Better.
Botox treatment can reduce this effect by essentially “relaxing the facial muscles” by treating certain specific sites on the face; the creasing effects of the muscles can be reduced therefore lessening or even removing wrinkles in these areas.
Botox can even be used to create a “browlift” effect – raising the upper eyebrow and opening the eyes.
Botox treatment usually gives 3-5 months of relaxation of the muscles.

We make a full assessment of your facial tissues and your expressions at the first consultation. We would discuss your requirements to know the effect you want to achieve and advise on a ‘natural look’, enhancing your features. Not all of the face is treated so that you retain natural movements and function.
We use a virtually pain-free injection technique – combining Dr Taylor’s full training and 20 years of experience of giving injections along with the most miniature needles possible.
Some people experience a ‘heavy’ feeling of the forehead for a few days after their first treatment and occasionally a slight headache, but this has usually gone after a week. There is sometimes a slight bruising at the injection site, which will resolve spontaneously. There are no long term effects reported.

Tried, tested and trusted since 1996, Restylane is another facial rejuvenation method – this time using fillers to rejuvenate and optimise the facial contours gently.
Fillers are non-animal based and Hyaluronic Acid Gels used to fill wrinkles, restore volume and soften lines and folds.
Restylane is a new concept in facial aesthetics, using a low pain, tissue-conserving filler injection based on a combination of Restylane Hyaluronic Acid Gel and a Blunt PixL cannula.
This combination provides patients with a minimum of downtime, bruising or swelling, and allows the instant effect of the treatment to be enjoyed immediately – you can apply even makeup directly afterwards!
Gently optimising your facial contours.
The Blunt PixL cannula is inserted in a single entry point in the skin and can be moved in different directions to reach a wide area, with minimal discomfort for the patient. The blunt tip ensures no damage is caused to the surrounding tissues, nerves or vessels, resulting in a virtually painless procedure.
Whether your skin is losing its tautness due to ageing, too much sun or sleepless nights, the quick treatment can significantly increase skin elasticity and improve skin texture – with effects mirroring a minor facelift!
Dermal fillers tend to be classified as non-permanent, and the effects should last 9-12 months.
Some other things you might want to know.
Dermal fillers are non-surgical cosmetic treatments used to bring a more youthful appearance by restoring volume or fullness to the face and lips. They work by reducing or eliminating lines, wrinkles and folds in the skin and the effects are seen immediately after treatment.
As skin ages, both naturally and because of other factors such as sun damage, smoking, and poor diet, we lose collagen, fat and other natural moisturising substances from our skin. These can be thought of as the natural ‘scaffolding’ that keeps it looking young and feeling firm. With less of these, our skin becomes thinner, and we start to see lines, wrinkles and folds developing. This is usually more noticeable on our faces.
Dr Chris Taylor uses dermal fillers to restore lost volume in the face by plumping out lines, wrinkles and folds.
The principle, elementary function of dermal fillers is the reversing of changes that are often associated with old age. Therefore, the primary purpose is to return the dermis to its original condition. They can give an appearance that is more youthful and natural than a regular surgical face operation, such as a facelift which stretches the skin into an unnatural position.
The fundamental explanation for skin changes is that as the skin ages, the dermis’ major constituents are gradually lost with time. These constituents include elastin, hyaluronic acid and collagen. Collagen is the significant protein support for the skin. Hyaluronic acid assists in trapping water in addition to adding volume and shape to the skin. The primary function of elastin is allowing the skin to stay firm, resisting wrinkles, depressions and folds on the skin surface. In general, these materials are the ones that protect our skin from becoming saggy. When they become non-existent in the body, the skin becomes thinner, lined with deep wrinkles in more advanced ages. The solution to this condition lies in feeding the fat-deprived section of the skin with materials that can play the constituents’ role and bring the skin back to form.
There are currently several types of dermal fillers in the market, with the most popular ones being collagen-based fillers, polylactic acid-based fillers, and hyaluronic acid-based fillers. They come in different thicknesses, a factor that determines how deep the injection will go into the skin. The thicker the filler, the deeper it can be injected. The most popular, though, is Hyaluronic Acid, as it is a natural product that gives consistently good results.
Women like to maintain their beauty throughout their life and, by using dermal fillers, they can successfully reverse or postpone some signs of ageing. However, there are other popular uses of dermal fillers used frequently by both men and women.
Facial lines are quite common due to advanced age and stress. There may also be caused by other factors such as the side effects of substances used in the body; prescription drugs, for example. Dermal fillers are pretty effective in filling up lines in general. Some of the most common lines that we can fill in both men and women include nasolabial lines, which are lines from the nose to the mouth’s corners. These are commonly called smile or frown lines. Wrinkles are an equally common condition that we can treat, including forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet wrinkles.
Other commonly treated skin conditions are weak and sunken cheeks, acne scars and regular scars, and unsightly veins in aged skin. Generally, the lines, wrinkles and folds that can be treated by use of dermal fillers include lip lines (lipstick or smoke initiated), tear troughs (tired, baggy eyes), marionette lines (mouth to chin), frown lines, crows feet (around the eye), and nasolabial lines (nose to mouth). Other applications can be classified under skin rejuvenation or contouring and enhancement. Under rejuvenation, the various parts that can be treated include the face, neck and hand backs. Contouring and enhancement include eyebrow reshaping, chin enhancement, cheek sculpting for sunken cheeks, jowls un-sagging, turning up the mouth corners, and lip enhancement.
Should you desire to have fillers on the upper regions of the face, the general recommendation is that fillers be used in conjunction with botulinum toxin injection. This is a brand registered trademark of Botox. There is a lot of flexibility in the conditions that can be treated by dermal fillers, including more significant skin defects in the rest of the body.
Just like any other goods on the market in different fields, there will always be trusted manufacturers who are known to be dedicated to producing quality products. Usually, the treatments are not very painful, but this again depends on the type of pain control applied and the specific injection area. More pain is generally encountered in treatments around the lip and nose areas. The vital point to note is that any side effects expected experienced when going through dermal treatment will disappear within a period of two to three days. If they persist, it becomes necessary to check up with qualified medical personnel to ensure they are normal and go away after a while.
As long as the filler is produced with the highest standards, one can be sure not to experience any form of allergy-related side effects by way of reaction.
Treatments involving wrinkles and lines often require anaesthetic cream, applied around twenty minutes before having the treatment. The function of the cream is to help numb the area to be treated to reduce the pain encountered when the injection is performed.
Depending on the type of filler and the area undergoing treatment, we will use different injection techniques. In filling out wrinkles, we can use two injection techniques: the linear threading technique and the serial puncture technique.
In the linear technique, the needle’s entire length is inserted midway into the wrinkle and the material injected while pulling the needle backwards, slowly.
The serial puncture technique involves several injections alongside the wrinkle to lift it.
To maintain the effect after treatment, top-up treatments can be performed depending on the type of filler used for the treatment.
The recovery time will take around 30 minutes in most cases or hours in a few incidences but the overall time taken to heal depends on the filler type. Most people will have no problem reporting back to work immediately after treatment, implying that the treatment is fast under normal circumstances.
The treatment is comfortable, quick and almost instantaneous.
Say goodbye to the ageing effect on lips.
As with many other areas of the face, lips are not immune to the effect of ageing. Noticeable changes include fine lines in the upper lip – creating a smudged appearance between the lip edge and the surrounding skin. The Cupid’s bow loses definition, and the lips turn inwards.
One of the biggest problems with lip treatments today is that they can make lips look unnatural. Over-augmentation can lead to a dreaded ‘trout pout’ or ‘rubber tyre’ look. As a trained professional with an anatomical background, Dr Taylor knows that a good treatment should always ensure that the lips are balanced and in proportion with the face’s overall size and shape.
Rushmere Dental Care is one of the first practitioners in the area to offer this new treatment. The Restylane technique recreates the harmonious heart shape appearance of the lips. So now you can achieve lips that are not only natural but beautiful too.
